stop messing about
There’s a Kenneth Williams evening on the box tonight. His life was a truly heart breaking story and seeing it re-enacted has recalled a couple of memories from one of my past lives. I met him on a tube train in Hammersmith once when I was very little. I was with my little girlfriends and he was very funny and nice to us and gave us his autograph. And when he died our paths, sort of, crossed again. I was working for a bank, not in one, but for one and we looked after his Estate. On the event of his death I went to his house in Paddington or there abouts with the Trust Officer and we took all of his assets back to the office. It was a spartan place almost exactly replicated here. There was very little furniture and all I can recall was 2 chairs, one for him and one for his mother. Very neat, very tidy and very bare. Not much to show for a whole lifetime.
